Quality Assurance Technician

Freshline Produce LLC., a premium fresh fruit and vegetable processor based in Mahwah, NJ, is seeking a talented Quality Assurance Technician, to join its fast growing organization. As QA Tech, he/she will assure consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing good, automated manufacturing practice (GMP) systems, validating processes, providing documentation, and managing staff.

Position Summary

Responsibilities:

Production:

• Identify, label, date and make a daily inventory list of all WIP products in the coolers. Share the list with Operations and Inventory control.
• Dump WIP’s in the cooler that are not usable. Maintain a log of product being dumped – including name, weight, lot number and date. Provide information to Production manager and Procurement specialist. Items that can be reworked are to be brought to the attention of the Production manager. 
• Production Line Quality Checks to be completed throughout shift. Checklists include product quality, case quality, OxySan concentration checks, temperature, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and label checks.
• Metal detector checks which include hourly line checks as well as determining root causes of false detections.
• Inventory of knives distributed to production floor employees.
• Knife condition assessments during distribution and collection. 

Staff:

• Serve as member of HACCP Team which includes training of new team members as well as on-going training with current employees. 
• Observe and report production team GMP infractions to the QA team. Issues to be addressed through training and/or disciplinary action.
• Responsible for observing, coaching, and correcting deficiencies on the production floor.
• Responsible for checking in (attendance, jacket, and knife distribution) of all temporary employees.

Requirements:

• Must be able to work on your feet for extended periods of time in a refrigerated environment
• Ability to regularly observe and document quality and documentation issues
• Strong supervisory, communication, training and interpersonal skills 
• Detail oriented
• Strong problem solving skills
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) is preferred
• Experience in the food industry is a plus
• Working knowledge of GMP and food safety regulations is a plus
• Effective organizational skill; Able to manage priorities and complexities
• Knowledge of processing machines
• Intermediate computer skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Strong multi-tasking skills
• Flexible availability to work evenings and weekends.
